Best baklava in Amsterdam: 8 places to buy (2026)

Where do you buy the best baklava in Amsterdam? From Serifoglu in Nieuw-West to the 4.7-star spots in Oost, with real Google ratings and why they're good.

Good baklava comes down to three things: wafer-thin layers that crackle, fresh nuts, and a syrup that is sweet without being sticky. At Yasemin, everything revolves around Turkish cuisine, so we know what to look for. We don't sell baklava ourselves, but we get the question a lot: where do you find the real thing in Amsterdam? Below are the addresses that keep coming up in reviews and city guides.

Google ratings checked directly in Google Maps on 6 August 2026. Ratings change; check them before you head out.

1. Şerifoğlu Café & Patisserie (Nieuw-West) — Google 4.1

Slotermeerlaan 115, Plein '40-'45 (second location: Bernard Loderstraat 15, Oost) · 4.1 stars from more than 3,600 reviews. This is the best-known address in the city: a family brand from Gaziantep, going since 1989, where everything is made by hand. Cookbook author Nadia Zerouali wrote about it in the city guide: "The pistachio comes from the Turkish city of Gaziantep and you can taste it. I have never eaten baklava anywhere with such an authentic flavour!" Expect a queue, certainly at the weekend. They also deliver throughout the Netherlands.

2. Divan Pastanesi (Oost) — Google 4.6

Javastraat 121 · 4.6 stars from more than 160 reviews. Customers write about "the best place for authentic baklava" and say you can taste the quality of the ingredients; the classic pistachio baklava is the one singled out most often. Kilos of real butter go into it, and the choice is wide.

3. Tugra Baklava (Indische Buurt) — Google 4.7

Javastraat 60 · 4.7 stars, the highest score on this list, though from a smaller number of reviews (just over 60). Reviewers call the pistachio baklava "delicious, nutty and not too sweet", and the chocolate baklava is praised for its combination of gooey and flaky. Tripadvisor has a review headlined "Best baklava in Amsterdam".

Why the highest rating isn't always the best baklava

Striking: with 4.1, Şerifoğlu scores lower than Tugra (4.7) and Divan (4.6), yet almost every city guide names it number one. The explanation is in the numbers. A shop with 3,300 reviews inevitably picks up complaints about crowds, queues and service; a neighbourhood shop with 60 reviews doesn't have that problem. So always read a rating together with the number behind it: 4.1 from 3,600 is a different signal than 4.7 from 60. Both can be true.

Also worth your time

These addresses come up again and again in Amsterdam lists. We mention them without a rating, because we couldn't verify their current Google score:

Sham Delights / Alsham — Syrian sweets; praised as fresh and less sweet than the Turkish style

Bereket Baklava — Burgemeester de Vlugtlaan 33 (Nieuw-West), open 24 hours; butter and Gaziantep pistachio

Royal Baklava — Slotermeerlaan 123 (Nieuw-West), made fresh every day

Halil Patisserie — Bos en Lommerweg 225 (West), handmade with Gaziantep pistachio

Patisserie Rahmouni — Bos en Lommerweg 359B; Moroccan, with honey instead of sugar syrup

What should you look for in good baklava?

Four things give away quality. The layers: wafer-thin and audibly crisp. The nuts: fresh pistachio or walnut, generously used, not a thin scattering of crumbs. The syrup: sweet but not gluey; good baklava doesn't stick to your fingers. And freshness: baklava made the same day is a different product from baklava that has been sitting there for three days.
